Mingle with more than 5,000 other lovers of Jazz and Latin culture and music this fall at Casselberry’s signature cultural event, the Latin Jazz & Art Festival. With internationally renowned musical acts, savory cuisine, visual art demonstrations, specialty vendors, Latin dance presentations, Latin art exhibits, and delightful children’s activities, you won’t know where to look next! The festival, sponsored by City of Casselberry,  102.5 WLOQ - Orlando’s Smooth Jazz and El Sentinel, takes place on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Lake Concord Park (located at 95 Triplet Lake Drive).

The festivities begin at 4 p.m. with flamenco dancers, Mariachi Festivos, and a Latin art exhibit by Jai Gallery that will offer a visual explosion of brilliantly colored costumes and cultural expressions. The concert begins at 5 p.m. with International Saxophonist Ed Calle. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Calle is best known for his extraordinary Latin and contemporary jazz. He appears on Grammy-award-winning albums by Frank Sinatra, Arturo Sandoval, and Jon Sedaca. He also has recorded and performed around the world with such artists as Gloria Estefan, Julio Iglesias, Michael Bolton, Bob James, Bobby Caldwell, and Rhianna. His solo recording, Ed Calle Plays Santana garnered a Latin Grammy Award nomination in 2005. His latest release In the Zone (2006) earned a Latin Grammy nomination in 2007.

Tizer featuring Grammy nominated guitarist Chieli Minucci bring an explosive mix of jazz and world rhythms to the festival’s international lineup starting at 7 p.m. Tizer, a 2011 nominee for “Jazz Group of the Year”, has taken their multi-faceted sound around the globe including the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, the Joy of Jazz Festival in Johannesburg, the Dubai Jazz Festival, Barbados Jazz Festival, the Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival and the Festival International Providencia Jazz in Santiago, Chile, just to name a few.

Tizer has assembled a group of veteran world-class musicians on his tour, including Emmy winner and Grammy nominated guitarist Chieli Minucci, best known as the founder and leader of the seminal world-jazz-fusion group, Special EFX. Joining Tizer & Chieli at the Latin Jazz & Art Festival will be Cuban drum phenomenon and Grammy winner Raul Pineda, UK born bassist extraordinaire Rufus Philpot, and multi-instrumentalist Steve Nieves.  

Everyone is invited to bring a blanket, chairs and all of their friends to the lakefront amphitheater to enjoy an exciting evening  evening that kicks off at 4 p.m.
