ZZ Ward Brings Her Blues-Rock Fire to Clearwater October 5, 2025. Tix On Sale TODAY!

The Nancy And David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre

Presents

ZZ WARD

Sunday, October 5, 2025

The Bilheimer Capitol Theatre
405 Cleveland Street,
Clearwater, FL 33755
VIP EXPERIENCE AVAILABLE

American singer-songwriter ZZ Ward returns to Clearwater! One of the most profound lessons she learned from growing up listening to the blues greats was to stay authentic to her story. When the LA-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist began writing new music, she found herself in the midst of one of life’s biggest changes: motherhood.

The resulting music is her most honest and blues-infused work to date. Freed from the pop pressures of her previous major label, ZZ fully embraces the blues—her most formative influence. Her Sun Records debut, Liberation, features a collection of originals and reimagined blues favorites delivered in her distinctive style. Encompassing greasy Chicago blues, foot-stomping Delta blues, rootsy garage rock, and vintage soul, the album plays like a ZZ-curated survey of the genre. The 14-track album was produced by multi-platinum producer Ryan Spraker (Eli “Paperboy” Reed, Weezer, In This Moment).

ZZ’s first single, “Put The Gun Down,” from her 2012 debut Til the Casket Drops, broke into the AAA Radio Charts Top 10 and remained there for 10 weeks. It was followed by the single “365 Days,” which reached #2 on the same chart. Til the Casket Drops also entered the Billboard Top 40 Alternative Chart. Her sophomore album, The Storm, released in 2017, peaked at #1 on the Billboard Blues Charts and featured collaborations with GRAMMY® Award winners Fantastic Negrito and Gary Clark Jr. The album included the track “Ride,” which was also used as the end-title song for Pixar’s feature film Cars 3. Most recently, ZZ was personally selected by Slash to open for his blues tour this past summer.

The Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre, located in downtown Clearwater’s Cleveland Street District, was constructed in 1921 and is one of Florida’s oldest operating theaters. In 2023, industry trade publication Pollstar named the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre the #1 club venue in Tampa, #1 in Florida, #1 in the United States and #1 in the world, of club venues with 800 seats or less. In 2013, the theater underwent a complete $10 million renovation and is the catalyst for downtown development. In 2019, Nancy and David Bilheimer donated $2.5 million to Ruth Eckerd hall as part of the theatre’s ongoing “Expanding the Experience” Capital campaign.  In recognition of the generous donation, the Capitol Theatre’s name was changed to the Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre.

Tommy Emmanuel has achieved enough musical milestones to satisfy several lifetimes. At age six, he was touring regional Australia with his family band. By 30, he was a rock n' roll lead guitarist burning up stadiums in Europe. At 44, he became one of five people ever named a Certified Guitar Player by his idol, music icon Chet Atkins. Today, he plays hundreds of sold-out shows every year worldwide. You've got to see him to believe him. With six strings, ten fingers and a whole lot of tricks, this word-renowned virtuosic guitarist creates an orchestra of sound as he explores the bounds of what a single instrument can do. From playing down-and-dirty blues to classic Americana, this Australian performer can make his guitar roar, coo, hiss and sing while playing solo as a virtual one-man band. Don't miss the return of Tommy Emmanuel. Part of the TD Bank Jazz Series.

Two distinct Texas voices. Two remarkable journeys. One unforgettable tour. GRAMMY® Award-winning R&B artist Leon Bridges and GRAMMY®-nominated Texas maverick Charley Crockett come together for The Crooner & The Cowboy—a series of once-in-a-lifetime shows that celebrate their shared roots, longtime friendship, and the rich musical heritage of Texas.

Bridges, known for his timeless storytelling and genre-bending sound, brings the spirit of his acclaimed fourth studio album Leon to the stage, alongside a career filled with platinum hits and sold out headline shows around the globe. From busking on the streets  to selling out Dickies Arena in his native Forth Worth, his rise has been nothing short of extraordinary. With his signature smooth vocals and boundless creativity, Leon Bridges delivers a performance that’s as personal as it is powerful.

Charley Crockett, the modern-day outlaw of country music, joins as a very special guest, embodying the independent spirit of country music’s great songwriters. A self-made troubadour, Crockett carved his own path, releasing 14 independent albums and selling out legendary venues like Red Rocks and the Ryman. His latest record, Lonesome Drifter, produced by Shooter Jennings, channels the raw, unfiltered essence of a road-worn storyteller. Together, Bridges and Crockett bring their unique yet complementary styles to the stage, joined by a rotating cast of opening artists.

Reyna Tropical is the vibrant musical project blending Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Latin American folklore, and modern indie sensibilities into an unmistakably fresh sound. Originally formed by multi-instrumentalist and producer Fabi Reyna, the project is rooted in a mission of joy, healing, and advocacy for queer and Afro-Latinx communities. Reyna Tropical’s music transcends genres, weaving together tropical beats, layered guitars, and heartfelt vocals to create immersive, danceable soundscapes that celebrate cultural identity and resistance. Whether performing at festivals or opening major tours, Reyna Tropical brings an energy that is as uplifting as it is powerful.

The BayCare Sound is a state-of-the-art outdoor venue located in Coachman Park along the scenic Clearwater waterfront. As part of the newly reimagined district, this open-air facility offers a world-class concert experience with stunning views of Clearwater Harbor, modern amenities, and a spacious layout designed for both comfort and acoustics. Hosting national touring acts and community events alike, The BayCare Sound is quickly becoming one of Florida’s premier destinations for live music and cultural gatherings.
