Sue Foley, an acclaimed blues guitarist and singer, has captivated audiences with her exceptional talent and dedication to the genre. Over her distinguished career, she has released thirteen albums and garnered multiple awards, including the Blues Music Award for Traditional Blues Female Artist (Koko Taylor Award) in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Her latest album, One Guitar Woman, released on March 29, 2024, is a heartfelt tribute to pioneering female guitarists such as Memphis Minnie, Lydia Mendoza, Maybelle Carter, Ida Presti, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. This acoustic solo project showcases Foley's versatility, exploring genres from Piedmont fingerpicking to flamenco, and has earned a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album.
Foley's current tour includes three performances in Florida. On Saturday, May 10, 2025, she will headline the WMNF Tropical Heatwave at the Cuban Club in Tampa. This annual music festival celebrates diverse musical acts, and Foley's high-energy Texas-inspired blues is a highlight of this year's lineup. The following evening, Sunday, May 11, 2025, she will perform at The Original Cafe Eleven in St. Augustine Beach. This intimate venue offers fans a chance to experience her soulful vocals and masterful guitar work up close. Finally, on Monday, May 12, 2025, Foley will take the stage at The Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, this venue provides the perfect setting for an evening of authentic blues music.
These Florida performances are part of Foley's broader tour supporting One Guitar Woman, allowing audiences to experience live renditions of her latest work alongside classic favorites. Her dedication to honoring the legacy of female guitar pioneers, combined with her own innovative style, continues to solidify her reputation as a leading figure in the blues community.
