A real jazz experience by the living master of the tenor sax and his quartet. Joe Lovano has performed and recorded with a long list of jazz greats including Woody Herman, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Bill Frisell, Tony Bennett, Abbey Lincoln, Charlie Haden, John Scofield, McCoy Tyner, Ed Blackwell, Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland, Chucho Valdรฉs, Ornette Coleman, Diana Krall, and many others. Lovano has created an extensive body of work for his own ensembles.
Opening set by Fort Lauderdale’s award-winning Dillard Center for the Arts (DCA) Jazz Ensemble. This 21-member high school jazz band has been recognized nationally for its excellence, winning the prestigious Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition in New York City multiple times. The current director, Voshaun Smith, is an alumnus of the band.
Hollywood ArtsPark Experience is a free series of family-friendly events held at the ArtsPark Amphitheater in downtown Hollywood. Produced by The Rhythm Foundation for the City of Hollywood, the series celebrates the vibrant cultures of South Florida through music, food, and community engagement while promoting historic downtown Hollywood as a destination to live, work, and visit.
The ArtsPark at Young Circle is located at Hollywood Boulevard and US1. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the performance from the open lawn. This venue is plastic and foam free. Single-use containers are prohibited inside the park.
Recording artist, Grammy nominee, and three-time Latin Grammy Award nominee Leslie Cartaya brings a vibrant and rhythm-driven performance to the Jazz at the J series with Latin Jazz Star Power. Known for her ability to blend traditional Cuban roots with contemporary jazz and elements of American funk, Cartaya’s performances connect audiences to the energy and musical heritage of Latin jazz while maintaining a modern, accessible sound.
Born in Havana, Cuba, and now based in Miami, Cartaya has developed an international presence through both her recordings and live appearances. Her albums “No Pares” and “Llรฉvame Contigo” reflect her commitment to preserving the essence of Afro-Cuban music while expanding its reach through jazz harmony and contemporary influences. Her work has earned multiple Latin Grammy nominations, along with a Grammy nomination, recognizing both her vocal artistry and her role as a composer and bandleader.
This performance features a group of accomplished musicians who bring depth and authenticity to the stage. The ensemble includes Edward Magdariaga (bass), Raymer Olalde (percussion), Fernando Sanchez (piano), and Pavel Diaz (trumpet), supporting Cartaya’s expressive vocals with a dynamic and rhythmically rich foundation. Together, the group presents a program that highlights both original compositions and interpretations rooted in the Latin jazz tradition.
Presented in the Alan & Diane Lieberman Theater at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC in North Miami Beach, this concert offers an opportunity to experience a live performance shaped by strong cultural influences, technical precision, and engaging stage presence.

About Tab Benoit
Tab Benoit is a Louisiana-born blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter whose swamp-blues sound embodies the heart and soul of the bayou. Raised in Houma, Louisiana, he grew up surrounded by Cajun, country, and blues influences that shaped his distinctive musical voice. Benoit began performing in Baton Rouge at the famed Blues Box Club, developing a raw, emotional playing style that became his signature. Since releasing his debut album Nice and Warm in 1992, he has earned multiple Blues Music Awards, Grammy nominations, and international acclaim for his passionate live performances and authentic Southern storytelling through music.
Benoit’s artistry extends beyond the stage — he is a dedicated environmental advocate who founded the nonprofit organization Voice of the Wetlands to raise awareness about the erosion of Louisiana’s coastal ecosystems. His efforts have been recognized nationally, including his role in the IMAX film Hurricane on the Bayou. With his fiery guitar tone, soulful vocals, and unwavering devotion to his home state, Tab Benoit continues to stand among the most respected figures in American roots and blues music.
About Samantha Fish
Samantha Fish is a powerhouse guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter from Kansas City, Missouri, known for her fearless blend of blues, rock, Americana, and soul. She began her musical journey on drums before switching to guitar as a teenager, immersing herself in local blues jams and quickly establishing a name for her explosive playing and dynamic stage presence. Her debut album Runaway earned her the 2012 Blues Music Award for Best New Artist, launching a global touring career that has seen her headline festivals and share stages with artists such as Buddy Guy, Devon Allman, and Tab Benoit.
Across albums including Wild Heart, Chills & Fever, Kill or Be Kind, Faster, and the acclaimed collaboration Death Wish Blues, Fish has continually evolved her sound while staying rooted in the emotional power of the blues. Her commanding performances combine expressive vocals, fiery guitar work, and a modern edge that have made her one of the most dynamic and influential artists of her generation.
About the Dothan Opera House
Built in 1915 and designed by the Atlanta architectural firm Morris & Morris, the Dothan Opera House was originally conceived to serve as both municipal offices and a performance auditorium. Over the years it has hosted plays, musicals, vaudeville shows, concerts, community ceremonies, and more. The Opera House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 and underwent a major renovation completed in 2025, preserving its historic charm while adding modern performance enhancements. Located at 115 N. St. Andrews Street in downtown Dothan, it continues to serve as a cultural hub for regional arts and entertainment. Jacomo Bairos
Portuguese-American conductor and producer Jacomo Bairos is Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Nu Deco Ensemble, known for reimagining orchestral music through genre-blending collaborations and community-focused programming. He regularly collaborates with leading orchestras including the Boston Pops and major U.S. symphonies, and has worked with artists such as Wyclef Jean, Jon Batiste, Jacob Collier, and Angรฉlique Kidjo. A graduate of The Juilliard School and Peabody Institute, Bairos has performed worldwide with top ensembles and also integrates mindfulness and wellness practices into Nu Deco’s educational initiatives.
Sam Hyken
Sam Hyken, Co-Founder, Artistic Director, and CEO of Nu Deco Ensemble, is a Miami-based composer, arranger, and trumpeter with an international career. He has created music for a wide range of artists including Bad Bunny, Pitbull, Robert Glasper, and Cynthia Erivo, and his compositions have been commissioned and performed by major orchestras across the U.S. and abroad. A Juilliard graduate, Hyken has held positions with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and New World Symphony, and previously served as Composer-in-Residence with the Miami Symphony Orchestra.
