This month the Sunshine Jazz Organization is celebrating SJO President Keith Valles' Birthday, and the Prez loves to dance! So The Groove Soul Band, a very funky group from Palm Beach County, is going to lay it down! The band has been playing together since 2015, building a steady buzz, appearing frequently at several venues around the Treasure coast. The Groove Soul Band has opened for Grammy award-winning saxophonist Najee at the Sunrise Theatre in Ft. Pierce, and they had the pleasure of playing for the legendary Betty Wright and R&B singer Tank. The multi-tasking band of singers, songwriters, and musicians offer a blend of Smooth Jazz, Blues, R&B, Motown and more. The Band sends a powerful musical message, while enjoying a tight connection with their audience. Join the party at the Sandrell Rivers Black Box Theater for some sweet birthday cake topped with delicious musical soul food! The theater offers free garage parking, security, onsite box office and cash bar in the lobby. See you there!

Be sure to reserve your tickets in advance at the theater's online or onsite box offices. The concert is presented in The Sandrell Rivers Black Box Theater, with excellent sound, lights and sights. Casselberry Florida Celebrates Memorial Weekend With Concerts, Cars & Ceremony Saturday, May 27, 2023 - FREE

Rock N' Blues Concert &
Car Show

The Georgia Thunderbolts will headline the free Rock N’ Blues Concert and Car Show on Memorial Weekend on Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 4-9 p.m. at Lake Concord Park in Casselberry. The five members from Rome, Ga., formed the band in 2015 and released their debut album “Can We Get a Witness” through Mascot Records in 2021. The band – T.J. Lyle, Riley Couzzourt, Logan Tolbert, Zach Everett, Bristol Perry – began as high school classmates of Couzzourt and Perry and then added Everett and then the others. They began touring with Black Stone Cherry, the Kentucky Headhunters and Blackberry Smoke. 

Opening for the Georgia Thunderbolts will be the Steeln’ Peaches, a rising star popular band, along with Debbie D and Vintage Now, sponsored by the Orange Blossom Blues Society. In addition to the music will be more than 150 classic cars, muscle cars, and hot rods all competing in a contest for best car. As part of this Memorial Weekend celebration, the city will honor all veterans for their service with a color guard display and plaque.

More than 20 food, beverage, and product vendors will be on hand so come hungry, bring blankets and chairs and come for a spectacular Rock ‘N’ Blues Concert & Car Show. General parking is available at surrounding businesses. Disabled parking is available in front of the Casselberry Police Station.

Sponsorship and vendor opportunities are available for this event.

This summer at a 7:30 p.m. new, earlier time every other Thursday - June 8 through August 17 - the Community Arts Program (CAP) Summer Concert Series returns for its 38th year. In the historic, Spanish-revival style setting of Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ, concertgoers have the unique opportunity to not only hear music by incredible classical and jazz musicians. Attendees also learn more about the music and each artist’s journey with music.  Since 1985, the Community Arts Program (CAP) Summer Concert Series has been attended by more than 70,000 concertgoers. It is a time-honored tradition that continued with virtual broadcasts to the world throughout the pandemic summers of 2020 and 2021, and gathered an average of 7,500 views each summer. This developed an extended audience that CAP is excited to welcome on-ground again in the summer of 2023!

Throughout the school year, the Community Arts Program (CAP) also provides after-school music education with the CAP Conservatory for the Arts and its Miami Jazz Institute. The New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival is one of Florida’s premier music events that showcases Florida's artists in a friendly, welcoming sea-side town.  It is a lively three  day affair with great jazz, good food and lots of fun and jazz fans who know they are they for a good time.  Flagler Avenue has proven to be the perfect location, with concert  goers going from club to club all day from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian River.  Through the years the festival has expanded to include Third Avenue, Canal Street, Atlantic Avenue and the North Causeway in New Smyrna Beach.

Due to limited parking, it is highly suggested to take Uber, Lyft or a Taxi to the festival. On Flagler Avenue, the drop off point is the Southeast Corner of Cooper Street.

In honor of the liberator and first ever Emperor of Haiti, Jean-Jacques Dessalines “Dessalines Lives!”, will feature a collection of compositions that tell the fascinating story of his life. Developed by multitalented musician, Jean Caze, this event is open to audiences of all ages! This performance is designed to expose audiences to Haitian-American culture, entertain, and inspire a greater appreciation for their neighbors of Haitian descent. For Broward County residents of Haitian descent, this show will be an appreciated framing of their culture in a celebratory way!

Jean Caze trained at top music institutions and is a multitalented public speaker, composer, writer, trumpeter, flugelhorn artist, conch shell player, and cultural ambassador. He is currently on tour with Grammy Award winning singer, Michael Bublé.
