North Central Florida Blues Society Announces International Blues Challenge Regional Competition in Gainesville FL on August 25, 2019

The North Central Florida Blues Society is an affiliate of The 
Blues Foundation, which holds the International Blues Challenge
every year in Memphis. As an affiliate, the North Central
Florida Blues Society holds a regional competition, which
allows for a winning band, solo/duo, and self-produced CD to
compete as a representative of the North Central Florida
region in the IBC in Downtown Memphis, Tennessee in the
Beale Street Historic District.

The NCFBS has been represented in Memphis since 2008. Four
different NCFBS acts have advanced to the Semifinals. Which
acts will be next? Who will take the prize and represent North
Central Florida?

The HIGH DIVE is the epicenter of live music and events in downtown 
Gainesville, FL. Located in the former home of Common Grounds and 
Covered Dish!  They share the building with Five Star Pizza , next to the 
southwest parking garage and across from Jones B-Side. It has the 
biggest dedicated parking lot of any venue downtown, and parking is 
always FREE (first come, first serve). HIGH DIVE is a live music and 
event venue unlike any other in Gainesville, providing a professional 
concert experience in a gritty rock n roll environment . This is the kind 
of space artists and music fans might typically expect only in a bigger 
city.  High Dive has the largest and highest quality sound system of any 
venue in Gainesville and a recently updated lighting and video system.

Florida Beach Bars 2019 Award Winners Announced. Paradise Bar & Grill Returns to the List!

Congrats out to Renee, T, Brandon, and the rest of the crew!


Florida Beach Bar is pleased to announce the 2019 winners of its Best Florida Beach Bar competition sponsored by LandShark Lager. Many beach bar enthusiasts casted online for over 200 different bars. Votes were combined with Florida Beach Bar's Pink Flamingo rating to create the winning list. 
We are excited to announce that for 2019, Sharky's on the Pier in Venice was voted Best Florida Beach Bar for the second year in a row and the third time overall! Jimmy B’s Beach Bar, The Golden Lion Cafe, and Racing’s North Turn remain the only bars to make the list since the beginning of the competition! Caddy’s on the Beach in Treasure Island, Casino Beach Bar and Grille in Pensacola, Lemon Bar on Neptune Beach, Paradise Bar and Grill on Pensacola Beach and Juanas Pagodas in Navarre Beach are previous winners who are back on the list this year. New to the list this year is Oceanside Beach Bar and Grill in Flagler Beach. See the complete list below. 
There were a few Florida beach bars that were very close to making it in the Top 10.  Flora-Bama Lounge and Package in Period Key, Tortugas Kitchen and Bar in Flagler Beach, Shephards Tiki Beach Bar in Clearwater Beach, Toasted Monkey Beach Bar and Sports Grill in St Pete Beach, and Bongos Beach Bar and Grille in St. Pete Beach received honorable mentions for a very strong showing!

Northern California native, now Nashville-based, Shane Dwight is a young American Roots Music artist for the 21st century – a killer blues player who can rock the house all night long with the best of them, and an introspective singer-songwriter whose voice rings true at alt-country, Americana, R&B, and flat-out Rock N Roll. There is no pigeonhole for Shane Dwight, and no single corral can hold this bucking bronco. Shane’s talent is so fierce and his inspiration so strong that his music draws in equal measure from classic blues and urban R&B, from alt-country and modern rock without compromising his integrity or missing a beat. He has performed over 3500 shows over the past 20 years, headlining at some of music’s most significant events; Beale Street Festival, Portland Waterfront, Reno Blues Festival, Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise, Ottawa Blues Fest; sharing the stage with household names such as Blake Shelton, The Doobie Brothers and B.B. King. He’s backed off the 200 dates a year he once did, but he still brings the rock to the table and the Blues to the dance floor.

Rick Randlett has been playing the blues since the early '70's. He has toured the East Coast extensively from Quebec, Canada to Florida, sharing the stage with many well known musicians, including Joe Perry of Aerosmith. Rick has released five CDs, including a duo effort with Cassie Keenum. His last two solo CDs charted in the top five in the RMR blues charts. Known for his guitar and lap steel prowess, Rick has assembled a new band, focusing on his lap steel playing. The band is made up of Kellen Vincent on guitar and vocals, Mitch Rogers on bass and vocals, and Lance Spano on drums,
