Jazz & Blues Florida ON THE ROAD Tracking Down Joyann Parker in HIllsdale Wisco

Sept 1, 2022

The road, as in "ON THE ROAD" led me to The Enchanted Barn just SE of downtown Hillsdale (Honest, you can't miss it - It right over the next hill, on the right, before you get to the cemetery, but after old man Torgerson's place) a couple years back, towards the end of the time Jazz & Blues Florida was decommissioned and sentenced to the hinterlands for the COVID duration. And I found enchantment by Joyann Parker and Mark Lamoine's music (of course!), the place, the food, the company, and the metaphysical blast from the blast at the end of the night. It's only an hour's drive north of Durand if you are looking for a cool summertime blues festival like Blues on the Chippewa). If you are ever up NW Wisco way, it is worth a visit. And more so if Joyann and Mark are there to share their talents. If you see them, say hi for me please. #JazzBluesFlorida #ontheroad

Harold López-Nussa has been building a global following over the past two decades since winning the prestigious Montreux Jazz Piano Competition in 2005. He has captivated audiences across the world with his thrilling performances, released nine acclaimed albums as a leader, and was featured as part of the 2011 all-star project Ninety Miles with Stefon Harris, David Sanchez, and Christian Scott.

Harold López-Nussa's Blue Note Records debut, co-produced by Snarky Puppy's founder Michael League, was released in 2023. “Timba a la Americana” features Grégoire Maret, a Grammy-winning harmonica player who has previously played alongside Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, and Prince. Luques Curtis (bass) has shared the stage with legends like Gary Burton and Eddie Palmieri. And new drummer Ruy Adrian López-Nussa, Harold's brother, completes this quartet of prolific musicians.
