The Tampa Jazz Club's next Sunday afternoon concert at HCC/Ybor City's Mainstage Theatre is a rare chance to hear NATE NAJAR'S SWING GUITARS, on March 10 at 3pm. Nate is joined by fellow guitarists CARL AMUNDSON and DOMINIC WALKER, along with bassist JOE PORTER and drummer JEAN BOLDUC for a swinging guitar extravaganza. The band reaches into the repertoire of Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, Thad Jones and others with a display of virtuosic technique, dynamic improvisation, and Amundson's unique arrangements making for an unforgettable show.
The Swing Guitars carry on the tradition of groups such as The Great Guitars (Herb Ellis, Barney Kessel, and Nate's primary influence, Charlie Byrd). With Carl and Dominic playing standard hollow-body jazz guitars, and Nate's nylon-string acoustic, and two of the Bay Area's best in Porter and Bolduc, they have a sound like no other. These old friends delight in playing together, and their fun on stage invariably adds to the enjoyment of their audience.

Daniela Soledade and Nate Najar celebrate the 60th anniversary of the groundbreaking album Getz/Gilberto, featuring American saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist Joao Gilberto. Antonio Carlos Jobim composed many of the tracks and Astud Gilberto sang on the hit tracks, “Girl From Ipanema” and “Corcovado”. This celebration features Najar and Soledade, plus special guests Jeff Rupert on sax, and Duduka Da Fonseca on drums, along with Nate’s full band.

Guitarist Nate Najar is gaining global recognition as one of the standout modern jazz musicians of this decade. Instead of merely talking about it, he lets his music do the talking. Najar employs a unique technique that showcases his artistic mastery. It's not common to find artists who play acoustic classical guitar using classical right-hand technique, but for Najar, it's the ideal choice that complements his all-encompassing approach. Nate doesn't limit himself to playing single notes or chords; he seamlessly blends melody, harmony, and rhythmic freedom in his music. The result is a captivating blend of swinging, emotionally charged, inventive, and intriguing tunes.
