12TH Annual NSB Jazz Festival 
The 12th Annual New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival will take place September 21-23, 2012 at various beachside and mainland locations.  Of the nineteen venues; seventeen are free admission.  The two- ticketed events are the kick-off party  at The Flagler Tavern (Friday evening) and  the Orlando Jazz Orchestra concert at the Brannon Center (Sunday afternoon).

Friday, September 21, 2012The Festival begins with the kick-off party at The Flagler Tavern, 414 Flagler Avenue, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  The Marc Monteson Quartet will provide the music.  Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event - includes one trip to the hors d’oeuvres table and one free drink (domestic beer, house wine or house cocktail). Only 175 tickets will be available for sale. After the party, enjoy jazz from 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. with Kayonne Riley and the Downtown Trio at SoNapa Grill, 3406 S. Atlantic Avenue.

Saturday, September 22, 2012From 11a.m. - 10:30 p.m., there are eleven intimate venues in the Flagler Avenue Historic District.  Start the day at The Breakers, 518 Flagler Avenue, on the ocean with local favorite Joe Young and his trio from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.  Stroll down Buenos Aires Street to Toni & Joe’s (309) for the New Orleans sounds of Kid Dutch™  and his band from 12:00 p.m. - 3 p.m. Next up at the new Barracuda’s Bar & Grill, 203 S. Atlantic Avenue, will be the smooth jazz sounds of  The Thom Chambers Trio from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Miss Jacqueline Jones takes the stage at The Flagler Tavern, 414 Flagler Avenue, from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Near the North Bridge, the Gnarly Surf Bar & Grill, 114 Flagler Avenue, presents guitarist Brad Sayre from 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.  John DePaola and Dave McKenzie will perform a special tribute show to Cannonball and Nat Adderly at Traders Sports Pub, 317 Flagler Avenue, from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.  Peanuts Restaurant and Lounge, 421 Flagler Avenue, showcases Sybil Gage and her Catahoulas from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.  Trumpeter Matt McCarthy makes his first Festival appearance with his band at The Om Bar & Chill Lounge, 392 Flagler Avenue, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.   Listen to the sounds of legendary jazz musician, Ira Sullivan, at Clancy’s Cantina, 301 Flagler Avenue, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Ira is another entertainer making his first appearance at the Festival.  Johnny Mag Sax will wail from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at That’s Amore, 103 S. Pine Street.  Enjoy the Valerie Gillespie Ensemble at The Grille at Riverview, 101 Flagler Avenue from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.  Call 386-428-1865 for this show’s reservations.  Listen to the acoustic trio,  Jazzmin, from 7:00 p.m. - 10 p.m. at PJ’s Sea Shack, 492 Third Avenue. 

A special Saturday event will be the Art Walk on Flagler Avenue presented by the Gallery Group of Flagler Avenue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, September 23, 2012The Festival’s final day features five shows in the LOOP.  Begin with breakfast at Jason’s Corner, 135 Canal Street, with legendary guitarist Ted Conner and bassist Ron Gilotti from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Enjoy Sunday brunch at The Grille at Riverview, 101 Flagler Avenue, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. featuring the music of the Goodtimes Dixieland Band.  The Downtown Historic District will highlight jazz vocalist, Linda Cole, along with Ron Teixeira and Stan Soloko at  The HUB on Canal, 132 Canal Street.  Stroll down to The Brannon Center, 105 S. Riverside Drive, to hear the big band sounds of the Orlando Jazz Orchestra from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Their first appearance at the Brannon Center in March 2009 was a sell-out. Only 250 tickets will be available for sale. 
  
 The Festival’s finale is at The Garlic, 556 E. 3rd Avenue; with The 4 Freshmen performing two dinner shows…6:00 p.m. and 8:00 pm. The first seating is at 4:00 pm and the second is from 7:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  There is no cover charge for this extraordinary show of tight vocal harmonies and musicianship.

The Festival poster, created by local artist, Steve Hardock, is on sale only at The Wicker Basket Boutique, 401 Flagler Avenue.  The information poster is $5; suitable for framing poster is $7. Chance tickets…$5 each…will be sold throughout the Festival.  The drawing will be held  Sunday at 9:00 p.m. at The Garlic.  Winners do not have to be present.  The winning number will receive two (2) tickets to the Arturo Sandoval Concert at the Plaza Theatre in Orlando on October 25, 2012.  Other prizes include lunch and dinner Gift Certificates for local restaurants.
