Assistant Professor in Jazz History

Teach large lecture courses in jazz history to nonmajors; direct jazz band program; teach improvisation, and other related courses. Maintain creative/scholarly and service contributions appropriate for a faculty member at a major university; and serve on university committees as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Master's degree required. Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate preferred. Equivalent professional experience considered. Previous teaching experience in higher education preferred, and demonstrated success in creative/scholarly activity desirable. Experience in teaching the history of jazz and other similar topics to both majors and nonmajors, as well as in directing jazz bands; ability to teach and perform jazz improvisation.
