Jazz Impressions with Stu Grant to premiere Saturday, February 28th at 6p.m. on WXEL 90.7FM and streamed live on the Web at http://www.wxel.org/

Jazz remains America's true musical art form. Being true to form, WXEL- 90.7FM, Palm Beach is pleased to add to its sophisticated and diverse program schedule Jazz Impressions with veteran jazz radio personality Stu Grant. The show premieres Saturday, February 28 at 6p.m. on WXEL 90.7FM and will also be streamed live on the internet at http://www.wxel.org/. Stu's love, passion and knowledge of jazz can't be denied as his name has remained synonymous with South Florida’s thriving jazz scene for more than 35-plus years; be it on-air or hosting live jazz events . In recent years, Stu was the host of Sunday Jazz Brunch, a show that aired on radio station Love 94 until their music format change in recent months.

“There's a musical void of sophisticated and hip jazz programming on the radio locally. I look forward to bringing it back to all those that love the jazz genre along with the many colors and textures it has to offer. We'll rarely stray from the Great American Songbook but when we do, then it’s the beautiful melodies that will keep your musical taste buds satisfied.” said Stu. “I was weaned on jazz, after having discovered the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Lionel Hampton, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McCrae, and Lady Day Billie Holiday in my early teens. Those memories remain near and dear to my heart. Now I throw in some Diana Krall, Michael Buble, Jane Monheit, and Harry Connick Jr with a fabulous array of jazz instrumentalists, and an occasional Bossa Nova along with some infectious Afro-Cuban grooves and you've got Jazz Impressions.”

Adds Stu, “During the 60s my father, Alan Grant, was a jazz aficionado, on-air personality, a record producer and a jazz promoter. He was very much a part of the New York City jazz scene and on weekends I would tag along with him and enjoy the music. It left an indelible mark on me. I'm very proud to follow in his footsteps and help keep jazz alive here on South Florida radio. I'm also very pleased to join the winning team at WXEL-90.7FM.”

Join Stu Grant for the premiere of Jazz Impressions on WXEL 90.7FM on Saturday, February 28th from 6p.m. until 9p.m. and please spread the word that jazz is alive and well in South Florida.

Jazz Impressions airs every Saturday from 6p.m. to 9p.m. beginning February 28, 2009 on WXEL 90.7FM.Listen online at http://www.wxel.org/.
