International Jazz Stars To Perform at Dillard High School


Brubeck Brothers Quartet Provide Master Class for Jazz Students

[FORT LAUDERDALE, FL] – On February 11, 2009, students from Dillard High School and Parkway Middle School will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with a a group of stell jazz musicians. The Brubeck Brothers Quartet, comprised of Chris Brubeck and Dan Brubeck, sons of jazz legend, Dave Brubeck, will conduct a jazz master class at Dillard High School’s Center for the Arts on Wednesday, February 11 from 11:00am – 12:30pm.

Dan Brubeck on drums and Chris Brubeck on trombone and bass have brought audiences to their feet all over the world. A composer, orchestral arranger, lyricist and performer, Chris Brubeck is equally at home playing jazz, rock, classical, fund and folk music. An award-winning composer, Chris has ben called “…a 21st century Leonard Bernstein” by John von Rhein of the Chicago Tribune. Dan Brubeck is the rhythmic force of the BBQ and has toured the international music circuit for more than two decades. He has led his own group, The Dolphins, in addition to performing with the legendary Dave Brubeck Quartet. The Brubeck brothers will be joined by Chuck Lamb, pianist, composer and percussionist and Mike DeMicco, guitarist and composer. To learn more about the artists, go to http://www.brubeckmusic.com/.

Students will be afforded the opportunity to attending the BBQ’s evening concert on February 11. The concert is presented by the Gold Coast Jazz Society at the Amaturo Theater of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 SW 5th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and begins at 7:45 p.m.
