Two victims of Flight 3407 were members of Jazz musician Chuck Mangione's band. a local jazz expert says their deaths are a significant loss to the music world.
Two members of Chuck Mangione's band were en route to play a gig with Mangione in Buffalo when they perished in last night's crash of Continental Flight 3407. Saxaphonost Gerry Niewood and guitarist Coleman Mallett were from Rochester. Leo Rayhill, a local Jazz DJ, says, "They formed great jazz in Upstate New York. They were a nucleus."
