Hi folks!
This will be a short one as it's late and we have a big three days in front of us.
Stoney and the House Rockers kicked off Thursday evening with a nice set at the Hard Rock Cafe. It was a rough start with some sound problems (not the band's fault), but Stoney brought it around and ended nicely with originals from their latest CD and his signature version of J. Geils "Whammer Jammer".
Darrell Raines & George Caldwell turned in a stellar set and had the crowd cheering with the loudest applause of the night at the Kings Palace. They are definately one of the top three acts at that venue.
We finished off our evening at Double Deuce with a great set from J.P. Soars and the Red Hots. J.P. had the crowd fired up with his first couple songs then turned it up another notch by breaking out his custom "cigar-box" guitar. Chris Peet and Gary Rimmington, one of the best and busiest rhythm sections in Florida performed tremendously.
My apologies to the Smokin' Torps and Josh Miller for not making their sets. If we have schedule conflicts again tomorrow I'll try to get some info on their efforts/status.
Friday evening will bring round 2 of the semi-finals and the announcement of who will continue on to the finals on Saturday! And tomorrow night will also be the start of The Nouveaux Honkies three night run on Beale.
Goodnight from Beale Street, it's starting to warm up about ten degrees a day which is just fine with us.
