Kimberly C. Chmura was a longtime South Florida music producer, presenter, artist representative and arts advocate whose work helped bring jazz and other live music to audiences throughout Miami and Miami Beach for decades.
Chmura founded KCC Productions in Miami in 2003, developing it as a full-service production company working with municipalities, cultural organizations, venues and musicians. KCC Productions curated public arts and cultural programming, managed artists, produced tours and recordings, and presented performances locally and beyond South Florida.
Her association with Miami's jazz community was already visible in KCC Productions' earliest years. A 2003 Miami New Times story about the weekly Jazz at Gil's series in Miami Beach found Chmura actively overseeing the evening and its audience, an early example of the hands-on role she would continue to play in presenting live music.
Over the years, Chmura and KCC Productions worked with an extensive roster of jazz and world-music artists. Documented productions and presentations included musicians such as Sammy Figueroa, Nicole Henry, Hector Martignon, Silvano Monasterios, Will Calhoun, Donald Harrison, Nicholas Payton, Marlow Rosado, LeNard Rutledge, Fred Thomas, John Daversa and many others. KCC projects reached beyond South Florida to venues and events including New York's Blue Note and Iridium, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters conference, the Sundance Film Festival and Brazil's Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues Festival.
Chmura also became closely associated with Jazz at MOCA, the long-running free concert series at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami. KCC Productions curated music for the series, and as recently as July 2026 WLRN described Chmura as its longtime talent booker. Her work there helped establish the outdoor series as a place where audiences came specifically to listen closely to the music and encounter an exceptionally broad range of South Florida and visiting artists.
In 2015, Chmura expanded her community arts work by founding the nonprofit Global Arts Project, Inc. She served as its president and, working with Rafael Solano and community partners, helped produce free public cultural programming in Miami Beach, including the Artscape concert series presented in cooperation with the City of Miami Beach and the Collins Park Neighborhood Association.
Her work was not limited to putting artists on stages. Through artist management, concert production, public programming and the development of partnerships among musicians, venues, municipalities and community organizations, Chmura spent years helping create opportunities for musicians to perform and for South Florida audiences to experience live music.
Kimberly Chmura's career represents a substantial chapter in the development and presentation of live jazz and related music in South Florida. Much of that work happened where producers often work — behind the artists, behind the stages and behind the programs presented to the public — but its results could be heard in clubs, museums, parks, concert series and community events throughout the region.
