Terry Myers is a saxophonist and clarinetist with a long association with Central Florida jazz. An Iowa native, Myers studied at Drake University and the University of Missouri before developing his professional career in Nashville and New York and later relocating to Florida. He became a bandleader at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT and at Rosie O’Grady’s Good Time Jazz Emporium and was an original member of Bill Allred’s Classic Jazz Band.
His career has included work with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Tex Beneke Orchestra and Les Elgart Orchestra, along with performances with musicians including Ray Charles, Louis Bellson, Bob Haggart, Jake Hanna and Butch Miles. Myers later spent more than a decade as director of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and has appeared at jazz festivals throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. In 2025, he received the Benny Carter Award, recognizing his career as a sideman, bandleader and educator.

Founded in 1974, the Central Florida Jazz Society is a Florida 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting jazz. From Dixieland and big-band swing to blues, ballads, and contemporary styles, the Society supports a wide range of jazz presentations and community programs.
Its mission includes:
- Preservation — Supporting jazz as an important cultural contribution.
- Presentation — Hosting regular concerts featuring a variety of jazz styles.
- Promotion — Supporting live jazz and Central Florida musicians through its publication, Blue Notes.
- Education — Providing scholarships and supporting jazz education in the community.
