Arts Garage is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and multi-disciplinary performing arts venue located in downtown Delray Beach dedicated to providing relevant and accessible arts experiences to West Palm Beach and all of South Florida. Their offerings consist of: Grammy award-winning musicians, top notch, award-winning theatre, arts education and outreach programs, and a spacious visual art gallery.

Our Jazz & Blues lineup this month includes classical jazz with Umoja McNeish – Violins Reimagined: A Night of Music That Pulls the Soul, followed by Brazilian jazz beats from Hendrik Meurkens. Then, closing out the month with An Evening with Jarred Armstrong filled with jazz & RnB. So grab your friends and let the music warm you up!

Umoja McNeish is a violinist, composer, producer and solo artist whose music blends classical technique with cinematic textures, hip-hop, R&B and contemporary rhythm. With more than 16 years of international performance experience, he has performed or shared stages with artists including Andra Day, Talib Kweli, Black Violin, Wyclef Jean, Rick Ross, WAR, Akon and Evanescence, and has also appeared in performances for the Miami Heat and Miami Marlins.
Joining McNeish are Cuban violinist Gaby Oviedo, whose classical training and contemporary versatility bring additional depth to the program, and Vernon Smith, also known as DJ Venimis, a longtime live-performance collaborator whose work incorporates beats, rhythm and audience engagement into the ensemble’s genre-crossing sound.

HENDRIK MEURKENS
New York-based Hendrik Meurkens is a harmonica virtuoso, vibraphonist and composer known for his distinctive blend of jazz improvisation and Brazilian rhythms. He brings his Samba Jazz Quartet to Arts Garage following the release of his new album, Samba Tonto, which has topped jazz charts.
Originally from Germany, Meurkens began his career on vibraphone before discovering the harmonica through the music of Toots Thielemans. His career has taken him through Brazil, Europe and the United States, and he has been based in New York since 1992. Across some 30 recordings, he has developed a recognizable Brazilian jazz style and has performed or recorded with artists including Paquito D’Rivera, Ray Brown, James Moody, Charlie Byrd, Jimmy Cobb, Ivan Lins, Monty Alexander, Astrud Gilberto and Roberto Menescal.

Orlando-based Jarred Armstrong is a vocalist, saxophonist and pianist whose music blends classical jazz influences with soulful R&B. With more than 20 years of instrumental training, Armstrong brings together vocals, saxophone and piano in performances built around melody, groove and a strong sense of connection with the audience.
Based in Florida, Armstrong performs regularly at jazz clubs throughout the state while continuing to develop his original music and recording work. His style reflects a broad musical range, combining jazz tradition with contemporary soul and R&B influences.
