The Kelly/Scott Jazztet returns from popular demand with vocalist Lisa Kelly and trumpeter J.B. Scott co-fronting their regarded group. Their repertoire includes freshly creative original arrangements of Great American Songbook standards to contemporarily classic tunes in interpretive jazz styles of swing, modern, intimate ballad, Bossa Nova, light funk, waltz, to New Orleans-influenced grooves, with seasonal material sometimes worked in for late-year dates from their latest CD.
Lisa Kelly, highly recognized for her vocals and arrangements, including multiple awards from DownBeat Magazine, teaches jazz voice at UNF. JB Scott, a former leader of the famous Dukes of Dixieland in New Orleans, and trumpeter under legendary Arturo Sandoval, directs University of North Florida JE 1 and is the Coordinator of Jazz Studies. Performing throughout the U.S. and internationally, Lisa and JB present an entertaining show of engaging, heartwarming jazz with their top-shelf rhythm section featuring Jeff Phillips (former Disney Staff jazz pianist), Dennis Marks (Grammy recorded bassist with Arturo Sandoval, Maynard Ferguson), Clyde Connor (Warner Bros. recorded drummer with Navy Commodores).
Table seating is $35, and theater seating is $30.
Live music presentations at ACA are an artistic partnership between Atlantic Center for the Arts and Positively Florida, both 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting a wide range of artistic expression.
“A Time and Place to Relax, Listen, and Let Life be Sweet!”
Inspired by jazz clubs in Chicago and Florida, New Spirit Café was designed as a “listening house,” where the focus remains on the music. The series presents a range of professional musicians in an intimate setting. Seating at small tables creates a relaxed, club-style atmosphere. While not a restaurant, the venue offers a beverage bar with light snacks.
Vision: ACA enriches lives through the arts.
Founded in 2007 as a nonprofit dedicated to using the arts to inspire creativity and personal growth.
