Emma Smith is an award-winning British jazz vocalist whose career has taken her from London’s Royal Albert Hall to leading jazz clubs around the world. Winner of the 2024 Parliamentary Jazz Award for Jazz Vocalist of the Year, Smith is known for her distinctive interpretations of the Great American Songbook and her strong connection to the classic jazz vocal tradition.
Raised in a family of jazz musicians, Smith began performing with big bands while still in her teens. She later became a member of the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, spent four years as a broadcaster on BBC Radio 3, and gained international recognition through performances and collaborations with artists including Michael Bublé, The Quincy Jones Orchestra, Jeff Goldblum and Postmodern Jukebox.
Her recording career includes the acclaimed albums Meshuga Baby and Bitter Orange. Released on U.S. label LA Reserve Records, Bitter Orange continues Smith’s approach to combining the jazz tradition with contemporary arrangements and original musical ideas.
For her Central Florida appearance, Smith joins the Orlando Jazz Orchestra for her Judson’s Live debut, presenting her interpretations of jazz standards and selections associated with her recent recording work.

Founded in 1974, the Central Florida Jazz Society is a Florida 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting jazz. From Dixieland and big-band swing to blues, ballads, and contemporary styles, the Society supports a wide range of jazz presentations and community programs.
Its mission includes:
- Preservation — Supporting jazz as an important cultural contribution.
- Presentation — Hosting regular concerts featuring a variety of jazz styles.
- Promotion — Supporting live jazz and Central Florida musicians through its publication, Blue Notes.
- Education — Providing scholarships and supporting jazz education in the community.
