20 Year Anniversary & Fundraising show for the Sunday Blues with Dar this weekend in Lake Worth

Fund Raiser to help keep the Show on WKPX


For the Past 20 year’s Dar Lopez has been bringing South Florida the blues on her weekly radio program on WKPX.  Dar has volunteered for the station for 2 decades, in an effort to promote Blues music to South Florida and beyond.  June 2, 2013 at the Bamboo Room in Lake Worth, located at 25 South J Street, Dar along with her husband Gerardo ( who has been part of the show for nearly 9 years) will engage local and national musicians, blues fans and sponsors to celebrate this milestone with a live show which will be recorded for airplay the following week on  WKPX ,  88.5FM Sunday Blues with Dar 10am-1pm.

The Sunday Blues with Dar, is a volunteer effort on the non profit radio station, WKPX, located at Piper High School and run by BECON.


At 4pm the doors on the Bamboo Room open for all those interested in not only seeing a great show, but also interested in preserving this award winning program. The Sunday Blues has been honored as a fan favorite for several year’s in New Times and City Link Magazines. Also it’s host Dar has won  the Film Recording and Entertainment Council’ award for favorite radio personality and a South Florida Music award as favorite DJ.  The show has been featured in national magazines and gains attention world wide with it’s internet rebroadcast.  Featured Musicians will be long time supporter of the Sunday Blues Famous Frank Ward and theNucklebusters, with special guests including Josh Smith and Albert Castiglia. The Regulators Rachelle Coba and Lowdown 13 are all part of this musical celebration. The goal is to raise funds through the $10 cover charge at the door and raffles and silent auction items, which include a cigar box guitar made and signed by JP Soars, and other blues related items.
