University of Miami Awards $525,000 in Music Scholarships to Two Miami Vocalists

Miami-based vocalists Lea Garza and Melissa Cruz have received Frost School of Music–Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation Scholarships totaling $525,000. The scholarships provide tuition and student support toward bachelor’s degrees at the University of Miami Frost School of Music.

Doctoral student and jazz trombonist/composer Izzi Guzman also received a Latin GRAMMY Tuition Assistance Scholarship for the second consecutive year.

The scholarship ceremony was held at the Frost School of Music, where the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation announced more than $1.7 million in music scholarships overall.

The awards represent significant support for developing young musicians while strengthening opportunities for music education in South Florida.
