The University of North Florida School of Music has announced that Lisa Kelly-Scott has joined its faculty as Adjunct Instructor of Jazz Voice for the Fall 2026 semester.
Kelly-Scott is a UNF alumna whose history with the university’s jazz program dates to 1994. During her studies, she became the first vocal member of UNF Jazz Ensemble I, helping open the way for the development of vocal jazz within the program.
She later earned both a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies and a Master of Music in Jazz Performance, Voice, from UNF.
Since completing her studies, Kelly-Scott has established a career as a jazz vocalist, composer, arranger and educator. Her honors include eight DownBeat Magazine jazz awards, and in 2013 she was inducted into the Jacksonville Jazz Festival Hall of Fame in recognition of her performance career, mentorship and advocacy within the jazz community.
Her performing career has included appearances at jazz festivals and venues in the United States and internationally, along with performances with artists including Arturo Sandoval, Slide Hampton, Mulgrew Miller, Maceo Parker and Jane Monheit.
Education and mentorship have also remained a major part of Kelly-Scott’s work. Over several decades, she has taught students, presented clinics, led workshops and helped create performance and educational opportunities for developing jazz musicians throughout Northeast Florida and beyond.
Her new UNF appointment brings that professional and educational experience back to the university where her own formal jazz studies began.
