Three Florida Musicians Selected for Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra Jazz 2026 Program

 JBF EDU PSA

Three outstanding young musicians from Florida have been selected to perform with Carnegie Hall's prestigious National Youth Orchestra Jazz (NYO Jazz) for the summer of 2026, joining some of the nation's most accomplished jazz musicians ages 16–19. NYO Jazz brings together exceptional student performers from across the United States for an intensive training residency with leading jazz artists before presenting a concert at Carnegie Hall and embarking on an international concert tour. This year's ensemble is led by trumpeter, composer, and educator Kris Johnson and features special guest vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater. The 2026 tour includes performances in San Francisco, Taiwan, Shanghai, and Beijing.

Representing Florida in the 2026 NYO Jazz orchestra are:

  • Xavier Anderson (Trumpet, Kissimmee) – A 2025 YoungArts Winner with Distinction in Jazz/Trumpet and member of OCSA Jazz A.
  • Diego Aviles-Martinez (Drums, Poinciana) – Member of OCSA Jazz A, the Summer Jazz Academy Clark Terry Big Band, and the Florida Music Education Association All-State Jazz Band.
  • Danial Browne (Bass Trombone, Kissimmee) – Member of OCSA Jazz A and a key performer in one of the nation's top high school jazz ensembles.
  • All three Florida musicians selected for the 2026 National Youth Orchestra Jazz program attend the Osceola County School for the Arts in Kissimmee, where they perform with the nationally recognized Jazz A ensemble under the direction of Jason G.M. Anderson. Their selection continues the school's tradition of developing outstanding young jazz musicians who have earned recognition at the national level.

The Osceola County School for the Arts has become one of the premier high school jazz programs in the country. In 2026, OCSA Jazz A won first place at the prestigious Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival.

Selection to NYO Jazz is highly competitive and recognizes outstanding musical achievement, providing these young artists with the opportunity to perform on some of the world's most respected stages while serving as musical ambassadors for American jazz.
