Miles-Trane Centennial Tribute
Join Tampa Bay jazz favorites trumpeter James Suggs and tenor saxophonist Jeremy Carter as they pay tribute to two of the jazz world's most significant artists, Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Both born in 1926 and frequent collaborators this concert celebrates these highly influential musicians. Both Suggs and Carter have sold out tribute shows to each of them but will combine forces for this must see upcoming event at the Mainstage Theatre at Hillsborough College's Ybor City campus.
James Suggs is one of Florida's most accomplished jazz trumpeters, recognized for his expressive sound, technical command, and deep appreciation of the jazz tradition. Based in the Tampa Bay area, Suggs has built a reputation as both a performer and educator, appearing with leading jazz ensembles throughout the Southeast and presenting acclaimed tribute programs honoring jazz legends including Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong. Jeremy Carter is a Tampa Bay-based tenor saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator whose warm tone and inventive improvisation have made him a respected presence on Florida's jazz scene. A frequent collaborator with many of the region's leading musicians, Carter has performed extensively as both a bandleader and sideman while also developing educational programs that help preserve the jazz tradition. His acclaimed tribute performances celebrating John Coltrane demonstrate both his technical artistry and his thoughtful approach to interpreting one of jazz's most influential voices.
