Springing the Blues has ended.
The Board of Directors of Jax Beach Festivals announced on August 26, 2026 that it has voted unanimously to retire the long-running Springing the Blues Festival in Jacksonville Beach.
The April 10–12, 2026 festival was the 34th and final edition. There will not be a Springing the Blues festival in 2027.
Founded in 1991, Springing the Blues grew into one of Florida's most established blues events, presenting national, regional and local artists during a free three-day oceanfront festival at the Seawalk Pavilion.
In announcing the decision, organizers cited escalating operating costs, logistical changes and the evolving environment for large-scale free events. Founder and Executive Director Sam Veal said the organization wanted to close the festival after more than three decades while recognizing what it had accomplished.
The Springing the Blues website now carries the message:
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
Springing the Blues Foundation, Inc. and Jax Beach Festivals, Inc. will continue, with organizers saying new initiatives will be announced.
But the festival itself is finished.
After 34 editions and more than three decades on the Jacksonville Beach oceanfront, there will not be a 35th Springing the Blues.
