The Mustangs take home straight superiors in their Concert and Jazz performances as well as being awarded Grand Champions!
Music USA Festivals is a non-profit organization "promoting music education through quality evaluation." These festivals regularly attract top quality groups throughout the United States to perform and be adjudicated by leading music educators. The unique blend of a rewarding performance experience, quality adjudication, fun in theme parks topped off with a grand trophy ceremony provides a superior experience for both student and educator alike. This festival supports the fact that music is an integral part of a student's education and are advocates of keeping the arts active in both the school and the home.
Music USA has been hosting student music festivals since 1972. Students that are attending Elementary, Middle and High School. Performing groups such as Instrumental, Choir and Dance groups are all welcomed.
These groups preform primarily in the venue Soundstage 33 at Universal Orlando Resort. After the festival the Eustis Mustangs opened Universal Studios during the opening parade. This is a great honor that has become a regular event for these middle school musicians. This year is the third year in a row that The Mustangs have taken home straight superiors in their Concert and Jazz performances as well as being awarded Grand Champions.
The Mustang Band is comprised of over 160 students. These students are some of the best role models in our school system and many are involved in other activities and still make time to practice and attend events. The Mustangs are lead by director Mr. Gerald Ricke. Mr. Ricke has a very strict but well rounded band program with parent volunteers in The Eustis Mustang Music Association helping to raise funds to ensure the program grows as the cost of living grows. With only 6 percent of the needed funds coming from the state this group has a very important role in the long term success of the band program. Music USA is the only thing that the Association does not pay for when it comes to these 6th-8th grade students. The cost of this festival is very high, however the community of Eustis came together and a half dozen students that could not afford the trip found the trip paid for by anonymous donors.
