David Sanborn
Returning again to JAZZIZ is legendary saxophonist David
Sanborn, who with 24 albums, six Grammy Awards, eight Gold albums, and one
Platinum album is considered one of the most influential saxophonists of our
time. He is especially known for his passionate sound and emotional
interpretations of melodies and unlike his countless number of imitators, is
immediately recognizable within two notes. While growing up in St. Louis,
Sanborn played with many Chicago blues greats (including Albert King) and became
a skilled alto saxophonist despite battling polio in his youth. After important
stints with Paul Butterfield, Gil Evans, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, and the
Brecker Brothers, Sanborn began recording as a leader in the mid-’70s and racked
up a string of pop successes. In the early ’90s, Sanborn was the host of the
syndicated television series “Night Music” which had a very eclectic lineup of
musicians (from Sonny Rollins and Sun Ra to James Taylor). Additionally, he has
regularly hosted the “After New Year’s Eve” TV special on ABC and hosted his own
syndicated radio program, “The Jazz Show with David Sanborn.” He continues to be
one of the most highly active musicians of his genre and is an artist who pushes
the limits and continues to make music that challenges the mind and goes
“Straight to The Heart.”

worldwide fan base of music lovers from Asia, South America, Europe and, of
course, the US When a band can create memorable compositions, compelling
melodies and deep toe tapping grooves, how would you rate them? Well the fans of
Levy DeAndrade, Yovannis Roque, Rex Freligh, Ivan Diaz Avila rate them a 10 and
beyond! This dynamic group of seasoned players that make up Level 10 is living
up to its name and taking it to the top with blistering live performances, an
incredible international following and now a brand new CD titled Vector.
