Florida concert-goers will be treated to an unforgettable acoustic
evening with multi-Platinum singer-songwriter JOAN OSBORNE as she performs an unforgettable acoustic duo concert
on October 10, with pianist Kevin
Cotton, featuring her Grammy-nominated breakthrough hit single “One of Us,”
which sold over 3 million copies on first release. International salsa singer-songwriter-guitarist LUIS ENRIQUE -- who is renowned for his popular hit single “Yo No Sé Mañana” -- will perform his “romantic salsa style” on
October 12. The following night, October 13, Festival
Miami presents Fiddles on Fire, featuring the return of
crossover violin master MARK O’CONNOR, a Festival Miami favorite who brilliantly melds folk, country and
classical traditions into distinctive forms. He will be joined
by GLENN BASHAM for an extraordinary display of violin virtuosity of
epic dimension with fingers flying, toes tapping, and a blaze of excitement as
they create an improvisatory mash-up of roaring bluegrass, jazz and country
fiddle. Student fiddlers and
national champion finalists from the Frost School of Music will also showcase
their prodigious talents. The MANHATTAN PIANO TRIO, an electrifying
chamber group that has quickly become one of the most exciting and dynamic
young ensembles in the U.S., will perform a concert on October 16, featuring
compositions by Frost School of Music faculty CHARLES MASON, LANSING
MCLOSKEY, and DOROTHY HINDMAN. Grammy-winning
conductor and composer JOSÉ SEREBRIER returns to the
Festival Miami stage on October 22 and 23 to conduct two programs with the COSTA RICA NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.

The luminous Grammy Award
winning soprano Hila Plitmann joins director of bands Gary
Green and the Frost Wind Ensemble for a concert of epic proportions
beginning with Michael Daugherty’s Labyrinth of Love. Inspired by
poems and prose by eight women spanning 2000 years (including actress Elizabeth
Taylor), the texts and musical landscape are full of desire, longing,
ecstasy, irony, tenderness, despair, hope, sadness and humor. The concert also
features Modest Mussorgsky’s vivid Pictures at an Exhibition,
transcribed for wind ensemble by Merlin Patterson in a rich and colorful
indulgence featuring over 100 winds and percussion from both the Frost Wind
Ensemble and Frost Symphonic Winds.

2013 New Orleans Jazz Fest and has jammed at a variety of blues festivals with

Costa Rica National Symphony Orchestra’s second program at Festival Miami
presents two more premieres by Latin American
composers: De la Sabiduría del Rey Salomón by Marvin Camacho (U.S. premiere) and They
Rode Into the Sunset—Music for an Imaginary Film by José Serebrier (world premiere). Outstanding flutist Sharon Bezaly then takes the stage as
featured soloist in Serebrier’s colorful Flute Concerto with Tango. The
evening concludes with dance music from two popular operas: Three scenes from Carmen
Symphony by Georges Bizet/arr. José Serebrier and “Polovtsian Dances”
from Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin, which also features the

has been one of the most important and omnipresent figures in the jazz world

a three-time Grammy Award winner and co-director of the National
Jazz Museum
in Harlem . An in-demand performer, arranger,
composer, and educator, he has worked with the best of the very best in jazz,
R&B, and pop including Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Natalie Cole, Sting,
Bruce Hornsby and Queen Latifah, to name a few. While at Festival Miami, the
Christian McBride Trio will present a master class on Monday, October 28 that
is free and open to the public, and will mentor the new freshman Stamps Jazz
