KATHRYN TAUBERT AT JAMS CELEBRITY BARTENDER EVENT, APRIL 8, 2009

Achieving recognition almost immediately after the release of her 2007 debut album, "Where Can I Go Without You?", jazz vocalist Kathryn Taubert has received accolades from around the world with her multi-lingual jazz standards, haunting ballads, swinging Latin rhythms, and original lyrics to all time favorites as "Somewhere In Time" and “Clair de Lune.”

Resuming her jazz career barely four years ago after decades in retirement, Taubert’s vocals were described by Dick Robinson, host of the syndicated radio/TV program "American Standards by the Sea," as "elegant, eloquent and the real deal."

Included in a feature edition of the Nina Simone Fan Club Newsletter in Europe just weeks after producing her 2007 CD for her rendition of “Where Can I Go Without You?, Taubert's praises come from all corners of the jazz-loving globe. “She’s quite simply the finest female vocalist today,” says Dave Warren, Sr. Producer of D and M Records, upon awarding her a recording contract for her CD, “Somewhere In Time.”

Her Portuguese and Spanish renditions of Latin favorites garnered an International Jazz awards nomination for best vocal performance by a female vocalist in the Latin category. Her original lyrics are “just beautiful” states 4 time Grammy-nominated composer David Benoit when speaking of the words she wrote and recorded to his song, “Some Other Sunset.”

A native Texan, Taubert lived for 26 years in Connecticut and NY, until relocating to Florida four years ago. Since being urged shortly thereafter to resume singing by late recording artist/jazz pianist Claude Rhea, Kathryn has been performing regularly with her jazz/standards group, “ALLTHATJAZZ” in South Florida.

Taubert plans to take some time off this summer to live and work in Ghana, West Africa for a month as part of The Global Volunteer Network.

“I’ve been fortunate in my life,” states Taubert. “I feel it’s important to give back in ways one can. My African sojourn is another step in my personal evolution as chronic volunteer.”

Taubert’s journal of the trip is scheduled for publication by a major SW Florida daily newspaper. When asked if she’ll be singing while in Ghana, Taubert replies “Only if they don’t ask me to sing in the Ewe language,” she smiles.
