LAKE WORTH, Florida (April 8, 2009) – Local band, BIG BRASS MACHINE, tops off the 2008-2009 Lake Worth Playhouse Concert Series on Wednesday, April 22 at 8:00 p.m. The nine-piece jazz-rock and R&B band plays a varied selection of rock, funk, Motown and R&B favorites from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Their specialties include hits from Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago and Tower of Power.

BIG BRASS MACHINE is a local band that is quickly establishing itself as one of South Florida’s favorite talents. They boast a “rare, earthy and authentic style” that’s stood the test of time for nearly half a decade.

The band originated in 2004 as FAU music students and good friends Leo Bacigalupi (trumpet), Brad Jimenez (Saxophone) and Branden Stair (bass) came together to read some Blood Sweat and Tears transcriptions in the university’s large ensemble room. They steadily brought in additional band members, including a drummer, keyboardist, vocalist, guitarist and two more horn players. BIG BRASS MACHINE has played from the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise and Las Olas in Ft. Lauderdale to Clematis and CityPlace in West Palm Beach, and as far north as the ArtiGras Festival in Abacoa. In 2007 BIG BRASS MACHINE had the distinct honor of entertaining the U.S. Navy stationed on Andros Island in the Bahamas for New Year’s Eve.

For the Lake Worth Playhouse Concert Series, BIG BRASS MACHINE has selected an exclusive set list featuring their “Top Brass” favorites and “a few special surprises to get Lake Worth audiences groovin’!”
