The Larry Brown Quintet brings straight-ahead jazz to the Space Coast with a lineup of standout players including pianist Larry Brown, tenor saxophonist Dan Jordan, trumpeter Scott Dickinson, bassist Doug Mathews, and drummer Claudio Berardi. Brown’s group has appeared on many of the Mid-Atlantic’s most respected stages and is known for its hard-bop style, refined musicianship, and wide acclaim. This concert offers a chance to hear a seasoned ensemble delivering the classic Blue Note sound with polish and energy.

Larry Brown is a versatile pianist known for his deep grounding in jazz traditions and his adaptable approach across swing, bebop, blues, and contemporary styles. A skilled accompanist and ensemble player, Brown brings a strong sense of time, harmony, and musical conversation to every setting, supporting vocalists and instrumentalists with taste and clarity. His playing reflects a respect for the classic jazz piano lineage while remaining flexible and responsive to modern repertoire and arrangements. Whether performing in small groups or larger ensembles, Larry Brown is recognized for his professionalism, consistency, and musicianship on the bandstand.

JazzReview describes The Larry Brown Quintet as "Straight-ahead jazz at its best, with a forthright approach to well chosen material, supported by first rate soloists and a rock-solid rhythm section." The group’s four CDs receive airplay all over the country, as well as in Brazil, Canada, Russia, and Japan. The band, which reprises the hard-bop style of the legendary Blue Note era, was recognized by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) as the Best Jazz Group for 2009. The group’s celebrated release, “Hard Bop Café” was recognized by WAMA as the Best Jazz Recording for 2006 with a Wammie award.
