Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, Rodríguez’s passion for music thrived despite immense challenges—practicing scales on a table painted with piano keys in the absence of an instrument. His breakout moment came at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where Quincy Jones recognized his talent, leading to an invitation to work in the U.S. and a bold decision to leave his homeland behind.
Now based in Miami, Rodríguez’s latest album, Coral Way, reflects his new life, weaving together Latin pop, jazz, and Afro-Cuban rhythms. His work has been covered by The New York Times, DownBeat, NPR, and The Wall Street Journal. His online performance videos have also helped broaden his audience internationally.

“Chirino Acústico" is a unique musical journey through a playlist that blends traditional Cuban music with American and British classics of the sixties through the nineties. From Beny Moré and Celia Cruz to Elton John and Billy Joel... sung by Latin music icon Willy Chirino and his five talented daughters. What makes this family fest even more exciting is that every instrument in the show is also played by the very talented family--imagine a musical "¿Qué Pasa, USA?"
