Tampa Jazz Club and
HCC Visual & Performing Arts Series Presents:
THE THOMAS CARABASI
SAMBA-JAZZ QUINTET
The Tampa
Jazz Club is proud to present a Sunday afternoon concert by the
THOMAS CARABASI SAMBA-JAZZ QUINTET, at 3:00 on March 1 in the
Mainstage Theatre at HCC/Ybor City. This return engagement by some of
Florida’s most exciting musicians is part of the HCC Visual &
Performing Arts Series.
Drummer THOMAS CARABASI formed the Samba-Jazz group in 2005,
following his time playing with Brazilian pianist Manfredo Fest and
traveling to Brazil to immerse himself in the music. His broad jazz
experience also includes years working with the legendary Kenny Drew,
Jr. and other notable jazz artists. In addition, Tom has been
Director of Photography and Digital Imaging at the Ringling College
of Art & Design for more than 20 years, prompting the Longboat
Key Observer to call him “Sarasota’s Renaissance Man.”
For this edition of the Samba-Jazz Quintet, Carabasi has
called upon longtime favorites of Tampa Jazz Club audiences:
saxophonist DANIEL JORDAN, guitarist LaRUE NICKELSON, bassist
ALEJANDRO ARENAS, and on harmonica and piano, PATRICK BETTISON. Their
performance will feature the classics of Samba and Bossa Nova, along
with some of the hidden gems of the rich world of Brazilian Jazz.
Join us for the first Tampa concert by this edition of the
Samba-Jazz Quintet, in Ybor City’s beautiful Mainstage Theatre – on
the afternoon of Sunday, March 1!
