The Origin of the
“New Jersey Sound”
Southside Johnny
Thursday, February 27, 2013 ~ 7:30pm
After
30 years and 30 albums, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes’
signature sound hasn’t changed – unmistakable vocals, rhythm and blues, loaded
with the driving sound of the legendary Jukes horn section. The band’s Hearts
of Stone made Rolling Stone’s list of Top 100 Albums from 1967-87.
The group collaborated early and often with Jersey
legend Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. “I’ve always wanted to be a
Juke … and I still do,” said Jon Bon Jovi.
