"They call it stormy Monday, and Tuesday's just as bad". Well, I'll tell you. Not this Tuesday. Not this Tuesday at Blue Jeans Blues. Not this Tuesday with the Maestro at the keyboard. Not this Tuesday with the venerable Turk Mauro hosting the evening. The kind of soft spoken, affable guy you like to hang with, Turk was lucky enough to convince Silvano Monasterios to appear with himself, Danny Burger (drums) and young talented Gary Thomas(bass). When I call Silvano "Maestro" I do it with respect to the full meaning of the word. Technique, style, originality, dynamics, the master has it all. I joined with my contemporary, Babette at the bar. She is also a devoted fan of Silvano. Turk is a fan as well and had a great time playing with him. Summer, Tuesday night and the place was just crowded enough so that people could enjoy all the JAZZ
that was being played. Swing, Bop, Blues and a Silvano solo on a "habanero" rhythm tune blew the house away. Silvano will be appearing inNew York with Troy roberts at Zinc on September 12. I may just have to take a trip. Keep your toes tappin' on the down beat and hands clappin' on the upbeat and the world will know how "hip"-"crazy" you really are.
