Celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month in Style

Jazz Arts Music Society (JAMS) Concert Series
Tuesday, April 24 at 8 p.m.
featuring

Kansas City singer/songwriter Angela Hagenbach discovered Sarah Vaughan in 1989. Since then, her soulful interpretation and phrasing has been favorably compared to Vaughan's and Shirley Horn's. However, she is best known for her creative, phrase-oriented style and is widely regarded as a master interpreter of great songs written by everyone from Duke Ellington to Antonio Carlos Jobim. She has worked and recorded with renowned jazzmen such as Clark Terry and Jimmy Heath. Two of Hagenbach's compositions are featured in Last Will, a 2010 movie Starring Tom Berenger and Tatum O'Neal. Hagenbach was chosen twice to represent the United States as a jazz ambassador to the world. She is considered one of the top jazz singers of Brazilian heritage based in a Midwestern metropolitan city. Johnny Mandel perhaps said it best: She "sings with perfect taste and sounds like no one else."
