Cortadito is a traditional Cuban music ensemble dedicated to the vibrant sounds of early 20th century Cuba. Drawing from classic styles such as Son Montuno, Guaracha, Boleros, Nengón, and Bolero Son, the group recreates the spirit of an era when Cuban popular music shaped dance halls, radio airwaves, and musical culture far beyond the island. Their performances reflect the influence of pioneering acts including Trio Matamoros and Ignacio Piñeiro, whose songs helped define the foundations of modern Latin music.
Cortadito’s approach brings this rich tradition into the present with authenticity and deep respect for its roots. The ensemble is joined from time to time by guest artists, adding color and texture in a way that recalls the collaborative feel associated with the Buena Vista Social Club repertoire.
In May 2025, Cortadito released its first full-length album, The Guajiro Triangle, featuring nine original compositions that celebrate Cuban traditions in the modern world. The “triangle” refers to the musical connection between Santiago de Cuba, Havana, and Miami — the band’s home base — and reflects the ongoing evolution of Cuban music across generations and geography.
A special highlight of this performance is the appearance of guest artist Nestor Torres on flute, adding an additional melodic voice to Cortadito’s Buena Vista Social Club tribute program.
