The Lenore Raphael Trio featuring Steve Hobbs on the 
vibes and Hilliard Greene on the bass, pay tribute to the 
great pianists, vibraphonists, and bassists in a program of
mainstream jazz and standard tunes.

Lenore Raphael:
Internationally renowned jazz pianist Lenore Raphael is a Steinway artist, jazz teacher and jazz radio show host. Jazz critics cite her as “one of the best pianists in the jazz mainstream today”. She has performed at the top jazz festivals and clubs such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Blue Note, The Jazz Showcase (Chicago), Birdland (NYC), Ronnie Scott’s (London) Pizza Express (London) The Casa Da Musica (Portugal) and international jazz festivals…The London Jazz Festival, The Joy of Jazz (South Africa) The Brecon Jazz Festival (Wales) and many more. She was up as a Grammy nominee for her recording “Loverly” with guitarist Howard Alden and received ASCAP awards for her original compositions. Lenore is also a respected jazz teacher and clinician having done master classes and workshops at colleges and conservatories internationally. Along the way she has performed with such famed jazz musicians as Clark Terry, Jon Hendricks, Howard Alden, Harry Allen, Bucky Pizzarelli, and many more. 

Hilliard Greene:
Hilliard Greene has been performing music internationally for more than 30 years and has been playing professionally over twenty. Greene studied at the University of Northern Iowa, Berklee College of Music and graduated from Empire College. Greene has performed/recorded/toured with Jimmy Scott, serving as his bassist/Musical Director and with Cecil Taylor where he was Concert Master for his group “Phtongos”. He is currently a full-time faculty member at the Bass Collective in New York City and former staff bassist at Minton’s in Harlem a.k.a. Minton’s Playhouse. Hilliard Greene has recently formed The In&Out Band, a trio using jazz standards as a vehicle for free improvisation. Also, he is co-leader of the classical crossover ensemble ZigZag Quartet. He produced three CD’s with his own ensemble The Jazz Expressions, two solo bass recordings entitled “Alone” and “Spirituals” (a recording that features music from the Underground Railroad) and co-produced self-titled ZigZag Quartet CD. He is featured on 50 plus CD’s as a sideman.

Steve Hobbs:
Vibraphonist Steve Hobbs received a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College in 1978 and a Master’s of Music from University of Miami (FL) in 1982. He has performed and recorded jazz internationally for forty years including extensive tours with Art Van Damme, Tom Harrell, Randy Johnston and more. He has been featured live with Bruce Forman, James Spaulding, Gary Bartz and more. He has recorded as leader and sideman with Kenny Barron, Peter Washington, Tom Harrell, Rufus Reid and more. He has ten top ten releases with 2 reaching #1 on Jazz Week Jazz Chart. He has made top ten in Downbeat’s Reader’s and Critic’s polls several times since 1993. He was recognized as one of the ten most influential vibraphonists of the 80’s/90’s in BMG All Music Guide. He has been a Yamaha Performing Artist since 1991.


The South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center is managed by the 
Miami-Dade County  Department of Cultural Affairs, with funding support 
from the Office of the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County 
Commissioners.  The Center is dedicated to presenting and supporting 
arts and culture and providing access to the arts to the entire 
Miami-Dade County community.
