Tony DeSare
An Evening with Tony DeSare
From jazz clubs to Carnegie Hall to Las Vegas playing with major symphony orchestras, Tony DeSare brings a fresh take on old school classics. He releases new recordings, videos of standards and new originals on his YouTube channel, iTunes and Spotify. With almost 40K followers on Facebook, and more than 16.1K subscribers on YouTube, one can’t help and be curious about DeSare -composer, romantic crooner, and ‘infectious lyricist.’
If only to listen to ‘Old Blue Eyes,’ channeled through DeSare’s smooth and sultry sound, this is a concert worth attending. The singer/pianist is also an accomplished award-winning composer. His sound is romantic, sensual and swinging, and yes, what sets him apart is his ability to write original material that sounds fresh and contemporary, and still pays homage to the classics. He’s a classic crooner with contemporary courage, a voice for the past and a heart in the present. He blends these beautifully, with visceral vocals and engaging eyes, and sultry sounds.

The Gold Coast Jazz Society is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of jazz music through a mainstage concert series, free community concerts, educational programs, a jazz scholarship program and musical services provided by the Gold Coast Jazz Society Band.
Gold Coast Jazz Society History
Frederick G. Ruffner, Jr. had a vision to bring more jazz to the “Gold Coast” area of South Florida. In 1992, Fred and a group of avid jazz buffs made this vision a reality by forming a non-profit organization called the Gold Coast Jazz Society in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Following its formation, the GCJS developed a concert series, which was presented in the main dining room of the historic Riverside Hotel, located on the famous Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. As the concert series continued to grow and expand, a larger venue was required. The concert series was eventually moved to the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, located in the Arts & Science District of Fort Lauderdale. Today, the seven-concert jazz series continues to be presented in the Amaturo Theater each year from November through May. Over the years the Society has grown and expanded to include the presentation of jazz education and community outreach activities, the Jeanette M. Russell Jazz Scholarship Program, and many special events throughout the year.
Funding for this organization is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council, the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture and is supported by Funding Arts Broward, supporting innovative local visual and performing arts in Broward County.
