Miramar Cultural Center presents Gold Coast Opera 2010 Series

Die Fledermaus

Die Fledermaus defined Viennese operetta at the height of its Golden Age. You’ll be swaying to these much-loved melodies long after the performance is over. Life looks good to Gabriel von Eisenstein until he, his lovely wife, and their rambunctious maid are caught in a practical joke that exposes all of their secrets! Mistaken identities, royal balls, and too much Champagne create merriment galore.

Barber of Seville

A quick-thinking barber uses all of his skills to make it possible for Count Almaviva to court the beautiful Rosina, the unwilling ward of the possessive Doctor Bartolo. Love assumes one disguise after another, as the world’s most popular comic opera arrives on the Miramar stage! This production reunites magical stars for another glorious tale of scheming rivals, hopeful secrets and tender hearts.

Carmen
Who can forget Georges Bizet’s famous opera, Carmen. The beautiful gypsy who loves only those who don’t love her. Carmen is one of the most beloved operas of all-time, with its exotic Spanish setting, it introduces a note of realism into opera that was very controversial. Objection was taken to the wild and immoral behavior of Carmen, the chorus of cigarette-smoking factory girls, and the final murder of Carmen on the stage. This unforgettable story will surely leave you wanting more.
