Hollywood Beach to Host 8th Annual Clambake on the Broadwalk
Latin jazz legend Poncho Sanchez, blues-rocker Jason Ricci headline seafood festival
(Hollywood, Florida) Hollywood Beach will host the 8th Annual Clambake on the Broadwalk, the popular music & seafood festival that features good eats and fresh beats at the water’s edge.
The Hollywood Beach Broadwalk will host a bounty of fresh seafood, live music and free family entertainment on October 16-18, 2009 at the 8th Annual Hollywood Beach Clambake, where that tasty New England tradition returns with a tropical twist. The eagerly awaited festival of food and funk will feature free musical performances by world-renowned Latin jazz legend Poncho Sanchez, rockin’ blues harmonica virtuoso Jason Ricci, Beatles tribute band Anthology, and soulful island diva Marijah and the Reggae All-Stars.
Throughout the weekend, a South Florida feast of fresh clams, oysters, shrimp, fish, lobster, conch and crab cakes will be served up along the Broadwalk, as local restaurants offer their hottest seafood recipes and coolest drink concoctions for hungry revelers.
Nonstop live music on multiple stages will include Grammy-winning Latin jazz maestro Poncho Sanchez (Saturday, October 17, 7 p.m.), Marijah & the Reggae All-Stars (Friday, October 16, 7 p.m.), and high-energy blues-rocker Jason Ricci & New Blood (Sunday, October 18, 7 p.m.) headlining the Hollywood Beach Bandshell (dubbed the Clamshell during the event). Beatles tribute band Anthology will headline the Classic Car Show Stage near the Ramada Hollywood Beach Resort (Saturday, October 17, 5 p.m.) The exciting musical line-up will also include The Hep Cat Boodaddies, Oriente, Ike & Val Woods, Teri Catlin, Crazy Fingers and more.
Among the other festival highlights will be a Classic Car show on Saturday night (5-9 p.m.), the annual Best Chowder Contest and a Clam Chowder Crawl along Hollywood Beach’s “Restaurant Row.” Children’s activities will take place at Charnow Park.
Festival hours are 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, October 16; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 17; and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2009. The Hollywood Beach Bandshell is located on the Broadwalk, just east of State Road A1A at Johnson Street.
Arrive by car, boat or bicycle. Paid festival parking is available at the Johnson Street municipal garage and surface lots, at the Oceanwalk Mall next to the Ramada Inn Hollywood Beach Resort at Hollywood Boulevard and A1A, and at the Garfield Street Parking Garage at Connecticut Street and A1A.
