FIU Festival of Jazz Bands Saturday Feb 2, 2013 in Miami Florida

This Saturday, February 2, 2013, Florida International University is hosting The FIU Festival of Jazz Bands.

FIU Music Department is hosting 8 local area high school jazz big bands as they perform their festival pieces and are critiqued and work-shopped by faculty.

The workshop sessions run from 10am until 4pm. At 4pm, there will be a final concert featuring our FIU Studio Jazz Big Band, FIU faculty members, and a few of the high school students will be invited to solo with our big band.

All of these events are free and open to the public and will be held in the concert hall of the Wertheim Performing Arts Center at FIU. 10910 SW 17th Street, Miami, FL 33199. This event is not part of FIU's official concerts schedule (though it may be in future years).

High schools participating are: Hialeah Gardens, Felix Varela, Palmetto, New World School of the Arts, Robert Morgan, Mater Academy, Miami Senior High, and Ronald Reagan - Doral.
