Thinking About Visiting Central America? A Private Home in Nicaragua and Plenty to Explore!

A Private Home, a Comfortable Base, and Plenty of Opportunities to Explore!

For friends and acquaintances who have considered visiting Central America, here's an opportunity worth exploring!

When I'm traveling, I plan to make my home in Las Colinas, Managua, available for short-term stays, generally around two weeks, exclusively to people I personally know.

THE LOCATION, PROPERTY AND ACCOMMODATIONS

The house, Casa Sin Drama, is located in Las Colinas, one of Managua's established upscale residential neighborhoods, home to numerous foreign embassies and diplomatic residences. The neighborhood is generally considered one of the city's safer residential areas, making it an appealing location for international visitors.

The spacious, gated property features five private, stand-alone houses and a grand old family residence converted into a nine-room guesthouse. The property offers 24-hour security, a swimming pool, limited restaurant and bar services, and is within a short walking distance of numerous restaurants, shops, and destinations of interest.

My fully furnished, private house includes:

  • Two bedrooms with air conditioning
  • One bathroom, living room, and equipped kitchen
  • Reliable Wi-Fi and secure parking (although car rental is not recommended)
  • Access to the shared guesthouse amenities
  • An English-speaking Nicaraguan property manager serving as the local contact

A HOME BASE FOR EXPLORING NICARAGUA

Las Colinas is conveniently located for exploring Nicaragua, offering numerous day-trip opportunities and a comfortable starting point for longer excursions.

Some nearby destinations include:

  • Pacific Coast Beaches — Approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes: Beaches, coastal communities, restaurants, and Pacific Ocean scenery.
  • Historic Colonial Granada — Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes: Colonial architecture, cathedrals (Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción dates back 500 years to its original foundation in 1525, though the current neoclassical structure is much newer), markets, restaurants, cultural attractions, and nearby natural destinations.
  • Volcanic Crater Lakes — Approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes: Freshwater swimming, scenic surroundings, lakeside restaurants, and resort amenities.
  • Beyond the Immediate Area: Volcanoes, nature reserves, traditional towns, markets, and opportunities for extended trips throughout Nicaragua.

LOCAL EXPERIENCE AND CONNECTIONS

Having spent considerable time in Nicaragua, I've personally visited many of these destinations and can share firsthand experiences and recommendations. Established local connections for transportation, excursions, and regional destinations can also help visitors plan their adventures.

The English-speaking Nicaraguan property manager provides a dependable local contact throughout the stay.

EASY ACCESS FROM THE UNITED STATES

The house is approximately 30 minutes from Managua's international airport, with nonstop flights available from:

  • Miami: Approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes
  • Houston: Approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes

A DIFFERENT KIND OF VACATION

This isn't an organized tour or a conventional hotel vacation. It's an opportunity to experience Nicaragua at your own pace, whether exploring the countryside, visiting local communities and restaurants, taking extended excursions, or simply relaxing at the house and pool.

A two-week stay offers plenty of flexibility to explore without the expense and inconvenience of constantly changing accommodations.

AVAILABILITY AND COST

The house will be available only when I'm traveling, with accommodations offered exclusively to friends and personal acquaintances.

I'm considering a private rental arrangement of approximately $500 for a two-week stay, intended primarily to help offset the costs of maintaining the property.

This is not a publicly advertised vacation rental, and availability will be limited.

If Central America or Nicaragua has been on your list of places to visit, this could be an affordable and convenient opportunity to turn that interest into an actual trip.

Anyone I personally know who may be interested is welcome to contact me directly to discuss availability, travel possibilities, and arrangements.

AN ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATION: DENTAL CARE

Based on personal experience, Nicaragua may also offer an opportunity for substantial savings on dental care compared with prices in the United States. For someone considering significant dental work, the difference in cost could potentially cover much or even all of the expenses associated with a two-week visit, including transportation and accommodations. Actual savings will depend on the procedures required, the provider selected, and individual travel costs. As with dental care anywhere, qualifications, treatment plans, and costs should be carefully evaluated in advance.
