SIMON LASKY NYC QUINTET
As a preview of the upcoming 2026–27 New Tampa Jazz Nights Series, Tampa Jazz Club presents British-born pianist Simon Lasky and his latest project, The Simon Lasky New York Quintet.
Lasky studied with Grammy-nominated composer Chuck Owen at the University of South Florida School of Music, where he later served on the faculty. Originally from London, England, he relocated to Tampa Bay in 2018 on a fellowship to study jazz composition and has since become a mainstay of the region's jazz scene. An accomplished pianist and composer, Lasky is the recipient of the 2018 British Composer Award for Jazz Composition and has released several albums of original music. His compositions have been performed at London's Barbican Hall and Wigmore Hall and have been featured on BBC Radio and NPR.
His new group features outstanding New York-based musicians Lucas Pino on saxophones, Dave Smith on trumpet, Peter Slavov on bass, and Jimmy Macbride on drums, along with special guest vocalist and longtime collaborator Allison Nash.
Join Tampa Jazz Club for an evening of original compositions performed by this all-star ensemble.
The Tampa Jazz Club was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1995 with the objective of generating interest in preserving, understanding, and performing jazz.
