Jazz fans are invited to enjoy an afternoon of live jazz featuring “one of the most sought-after bassists in Brevard County,” according to Florida Today. Making the concert even more special, Ron’s band will include John Simon on piano, Paul Polanski on saxophone, and Richie Mola on drums.
Ron Pirtle’s musical journey began at age 12, when his parents placed an electric bass guitar in his hands. Growing up on an Ohio farm, he teamed up with his brother—who played lead guitar—and together they formed a rock and roll band. His natural ability and steady commitment quickly established him as a first-call bassist, performing throughout Ohio and neighboring Pennsylvania.
His musical direction shifted when he began working with a seasoned blues pianist. During that time, he discovered blues and jazz and found his voice on the upright acoustic bass. From then on, he focused on mastering this distinctly American musical tradition.
After marrying his high school sweetheart, Joyce, Ron relocated to Florida in the 1980s and became an active presence in the Space Coast jazz community. Today, he continues to be one of Central Florida’s most in-demand upright bassists—the musician fellow bandleaders call when they are seeking depth, groove, and authenticity.
This ticketed event offers an opportunity to experience a seasoned musician up close—an afternoon of rich rhythms, smooth grooves, and timeless jazz.
