Paul Taylor & Michael Lington
Festival in Casselberry
Paul Taylor and Michael Lington Co-Headline Spring Jazz and Art Festival, Saturday, March 21, 2020, 5-9pm, at Lake Concord Park in Casselberry, Florida. This FREE concert is part of the Lake Concord Park Concert Series.
Taylor is a smooth jazz saxophonist who has released 11 albums since his debut On the Horn in 1995. Originally from Denver, he now resides in Las Vegas and is known for his soulful sweet sound and innovative music. He has collaborated with many R&B vocalists including Regina Bell, Peabo Bryson and Maxi Priest. His most recent album, Countdown, fuses his trademark jazz/funk/soul vibe with prominent elements of synthesized dance and pop, electronica and even a touch of blues. The album’s colorful fusion of grooves and styles was created by the saxophonist and his longtime collaborator, co-writer and producer Dino Esposito. The two share a dynamic several decades-long history that began when they played in the same band while attending the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Esposito collaborated on Paul’s 1995 debut On the Horn and continued with Pleasure Seeker (1997), Undercover (2000), Hypnotic (2001), Nightlife (2005), Prime Time (2011) and Tenacity (2014).
Michael Lington, a Danish-American contemporary saxophonist, songwriter, has released 11 solo albums and has 25 singles that have charted on the Billboard and Radio & Records (R&R) contemporary jazz radio charts. Over the course of his career, Lington has collaborated with Michael Bolton, Barry Manilow, Aaron Neville, Mike Love, Ray Parker, Jr., Taylor Dayne, Brian Culbertson, and many others. Lington’s first Christmas album, A Foreign Affair Christmas, was released November 8, 2019 with the lead-off track being George Michael’s “Last Christmas” featuring French keyboardist and vibraphonist Philippe Saisse.
Opening the show will be a local group and WUCF favorite, The Conglomerate, followed by Rohan Reid who was recently featured on Watercolors Jazz. The Festival will also feature the 7th Annual Contemporary Art Exhibit representing the best contemporary artists in Central Florida.
