Sanford Florida Big Band Jazz Concert to be Held Sunday, October 9, 2011


The Faith and Jazz Big Band will perform an evening of big band jazz on Sunday, Oct. 9th 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Sanford. The church is located at 419 S. Park Ave, Sanford, Fl. 32771.

The big band will perform hits of the big band era including Star Dust, 720 In the Books, Tuxedo Junction, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Sing Sing Sing, and The One O' Clock Jump.  The concert is free and open to the public. Faith and Jazz Big Band perform concerts of traditional swing and big band music in central Florida and is part of the Jazz in the Nursing Homes Project performing for nursing homes and our veterans as a community service.  The big band is a 17 piece jazz band that performs the hits from the big band era.  Under the direction of trombonist Andrea Rowlison, the big band and the Faith and Jazz Combo have been performing in Central Florida for ten years.  Miss Rowlison has performed with the big bands of the Harry James, Guy Lombardo, Xavier Cugat, Tommy Dorsey, Charlie Spivak, Gene Krupa, Sy Zentner, Warren Covington, Larry Elgart, and Nelson Riddle Orchestras.
