#JazzBluesFlorida #jazz #blues #Florida #Concerts #Festivals #Clubs

Full Moon Jazz on Hollywood Beach, Florida, on August 6, 2009 will feature very special artists Madd Jazz Quartet, Ira Sullivan and Oriente in the monthly free public performance series.

Madd Jazz Quartet includes three young siblings from the family Maddox: Kevin (17), Chase (16), and Emily (14). Each began playing piano at an early age and picked up their second instrument, alto sax, guitar, and drums respectively, about 5 years ago. Their mentors include some of South Florida's premier musicians and educators: Ira Sullivan, Brian Murphy, John Yarling, Duffy Jackson, Ed Maina, Jim Gasior, William Stewart, Richard Procopio, Eddie Balzola (Oriente) and staff of Music Tech in Pembroke Pines. The young artists also study at the Simon Salz UM Frost School of Music Young Musicians’ Summer Camp, and eldest brother Kevin will depart soon after this concert to begin studies at The University of North Florida. Legendary Jazz great Ira Sullivan who also directs at the Young Musicians Camp will join the band along with excellent young bass player David Llanas. Audiences will be in the company of greatness when the elder statesman of Jazz, who's played with everyone from Charlie Parker and Dizzie Gillespie to Jaco Pastorius and Randy Brecker (to name a few!), plays sax, trumpet, flugelhorn and flute with the wisdom of his years and tone and energy of a musician one third his age! http://www.myspace.com/irasullivan

Popular Latin Jazz band Oriente will follow with a magnificent sextet, featuring their signature sound with soulful lead guitar melodies backed by warm, solid bass lines, trombone and trumpet harmonies, and an explosive Afro-Cuban percussion section. Songs from their new cd release NOW will be featured, and Mr. Sullivan may be enticed to jump on stage with his cabasa and dig the Latin rhythms and Jazz! www.myspace.com/orienteworldmusic
