Free afternoon concert at the New Orleans Jazz Museum? SURE!

The New Orleans Jazz Museum and Jazz Foundation of America presented a performance featuring Grammy Award Winner, Jo-EL Sonnier on  Wednesday, June 1st at 2:00 pm CDT.

This program took place inside the third floor Performance Center listening room. Admission was free and open to the public, seating was limited and offered first come, first serve.

The New Orleans Jazz Museum celebrates the history of jazz, in all its forms, through dynamic interactive exhibits, multi-generational educational programming, research facilities, and engaging musical performances.

The Jazz Museum enhances New Orleans’ ongoing cultural renaissance by providing diverse resources for musicians and music lovers of all languages and nationalities. We fully explore America’s quintessential musical art form in the city where jazz was born.

The beautiful music here pulled at my heartstrings. So much feeling in each song, each note. And the people making the music here are as authentic as the feelings. My Louisiana music started out in Arcadiana. Fred’s in Big Mamou - men in muddy boots fresh from work dancing with pretty ladies in the finest manner at 7am when they opened the doors. D.I.’s out Evangeline Hwy - crawfish and down-home Cajun music and dancing on a floor bigger than the dining area. Crowley. Rayne. That roadhouse on 190 west of Basile where they gathered around and sang their Mardi Gras songs to us. Its own time, place and space. All special. Very special in this world.

Garden check before the drive to the French Quarter

Destination

Details...

In relation to...

New Orleans, as it is. Disney, it ain't.

Louis!

Walk by it this place sooooo many times. Finally going in!

Walk this way....

Only a couple minutes late...

Huh. They used to hang people for tearing down the US flag. Huh.

Lifts my spirits EVERYTIME I him or his music!

One of the many... All important. The Balcony Music Club.

Give me a chair, at small table, a bottle of wine,
prop me up here, and I'll be fine.

Just gotta love Rouse's!

What would dinner be without some of Rouse's shrimps?

Public Service Message: Central Grocery in the French Quarter is still closed due to hurricane Ida last fall. I guess the price here at Zuppardo's is also a PSA.

Hmmm.. just a further down in the deli case...

Yum... this a half... a meal for 4.

All good for tomorrow, too!

Food for your soul... Yes. Indeed.
