R.I.P. Duffy Jackson "It is with great sadness that we inform
you of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, drummer Duffy Jackson
(1953-2021), following a prolonged illness. Duffy played and taught many
times at the Nashville Jazz Workshop. He appeared frequently in the Jazz
Cave as a leader, sideman, and with his big band. The son of bassist Chubby
Jackson, Duffy had a distinguished career before moving to Tennessee. He
played with Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, Milt Jackson, Monty Alexander, and
many, many others. We’ll have more to say, but in the meantime please
enjoy some video of his big band as we remember this jazz great who
left us too soon."
